Why some fridge magnets survive for years and others are binned in a week
A fridge magnet stays on the door when it gives the household something they actually use. Magnets that carry only branding get binned; magnets that carry a calendar, a conversion chart, emergency numbers or a first aid guide stay up for years — with your branding along for the ride.
The fridge door is competitive real estate
Most Australian kitchens have room for a handful of magnets and a rotating cast of school notes and appointment cards. Anything that does not earn its place gets moved to the side of the fridge, then into a drawer, then into the bin.
The test is simple: would the household keep this if your logo were not on it? If the answer is no, the magnet is an advertisement, and it will be treated like one.
What earns a spot
Calendars are the strongest performer we print, because twelve months of dates is genuinely useful and the magnet has a built-in twelve-month lifespan.
Emergency and important numbers magnets last even longer, because the content never expires. Real estate agents have used them for decades for exactly this reason — they build brand awareness in a farm area without needing a reprint every December.
Kitchen conversion charts, first aid and CPR guides, and shopping list magnets with a marker all work on the same principle. The content is the reason it stays; the branding is what you get out of it.
Where the branding should sit
Around the content, not instead of it. A DL kitchen magnet has room for the full conversion table and a generous branding panel at the bottom. An A5 first aid magnet can carry legible CPR steps with your logo, phone number and after-hours line beneath.
Resist the urge to shrink the useful content to make the logo bigger. A magnet nobody reads is a magnet nobody keeps.
The physical side matters too
