Getting your artwork right: specs, bleed and resolution
Send a print-ready PDF with 3mm bleed on all edges. We accept most other file types too, and if you would rather not deal with it at all, our design team will build the artwork from your logo and details — free of charge with every order.
Bleed, and why it matters
Bleed is extra artwork extending past the trim line, so that when the magnet is cut there is no white sliver along the edge. Three millimetres on every edge is what we need.
Keep anything important — text, logos, phone numbers — at least 3mm inside the trim line as well. Cutting tolerances are small but not zero, and a phone number that runs right to the edge is a phone number at risk.
Photo resolution
A photo pulled from a website generally will not have enough resolution to print well. Screen images are typically 72dpi; print wants around 300dpi at final size. A logo that looks crisp on a website can turn to mush at 210mm wide.
If you are unsure, send it to us and we will tell you whether it will hold up. That check costs nothing and is much cheaper than a reprint.
Vector beats raster for logos
If you have your logo as an EPS, AI or vector PDF, send that rather than a PNG or JPG. Vector artwork scales to any size without losing quality, which matters when the same logo goes on a business card magnet and an A5 calendar.
You always see a proof
Nothing goes to print until you have approved a proof. Check it properly — dates, spelling, phone numbers, and that the version you are approving is the latest one. Once approved, the responsibility for what is on the magnet sits with the approval, so it is worth five careful minutes.
If we have made the error, we reprint at no charge.
